The Twinning of Hammonton and San Gregorio da Sassola
The Italian Preservation Foundation will host a twinning of its hometown, Hammonton, with the small picturesque mountain village of San Gregorio da Sassola, Italy from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 23rd.
A parade of bands, organizations and tarantella dancers will take part, and a commemorative mosaic plaque will be placed in the vestibule wall in Town Hall.
Food vendors will be on hand as well as music and entertainment.
There is plenty of parking, and amenities will be provided.
Festivities will begin with the parade to Town Square at Central and Vine beginning at 11 a.m.
The parade will makes its way through downtown by noon.
Vine Street will be roped off in old-time block party fashion.
At 1 p.m., a short dedication of the plaque at the Town Hall steps will take place.
Then, in true fiesta style, guests can eat, drink and enjoy the fun, family style until 5:30 p.m.
Congressman Frank LoBiondo, local and county officials, Dr. Gilda Rorro-Baldessari, honorary vice consul for Italy, emeritus and consular correspondent for Italy, San Gregorio's officials and an Italian Saxula Brass Band delegation are among the dignitaries expected to attend.
