Anni Carpo, Steve Furgione, and Evie Tomasello Join Councilman Mike Torrissi in 2011 Race for Council

April 10, 2011 – Republican leaders from Hammonton, Atlantic County, and the State gathered Sunday to help launch the Hammonton Republicans’ Town Council Ticket. Councilman Mike Torrissi, Anni Carpo, Steve Furgione, and Evie Crescenzo-Tomasello announced their intention to run for Town Council in front of a packed house at Tomasello Winery.

The candidates were joined by more than a dozen Republican lawmakers: District 8 State Senator Dawn Marie Addiego, Atlantic County 2nd District Freeholder Frank Formica , 5th District Freeholder James Bertino, Atlantic County Surrogate Jim Curcio, Atlantic County Executive Denny Levinson, Galloway Councilman Dennis Kleiner, candidate for Atlantic County Clerk Michele C. Verno, former Councilman Anthony Marino, former Councilman Billy Olivo, Atlantic County Republican Club President Keith Davis, and others.

The candidates were sworn in by former State Assemblyman and Hammonton Resident Sam Curcio, Sr. Mr. Curcio’s participation has been a local tradition for Republicans for many years.

Councilman Torrissi is running for the unexpired term of former Councilman Jim Bertino. He is joined by Anni Carpo, Steve Furgione, and Evie Crescenzo-Tomasello, local business owners with deep roots in the community. All four candidates thanked their families and the Republican party for their support. The candidates pledged that their terms on Town Council would be in service to the families and small businesses of Hammonton. They also spoke of their confidence of victory in November based on the growth and enthusiasm of the Hammonton Republican Club.
